Store information across separate places and workflows.
DesignOS is an exploration of an AI-native operating system for product design teams, connecting design systems, research, product decisions, AI, and team knowledge.
Rather than treating AI as another tool to open, DesignOS explores it as a contextual intelligence layer that works alongside the designer at the moment a decision is being made.

A single design decision can involve Figma, a design system, research, Notion, Slack, GitHub, and AI.
The information exists, but the context is fragmented.
Designers spend time searching for existing patterns, revisiting decisions, understanding guidelines, and answering questions the team may have already solved.
Our tools store knowledge.
Design systems maintain consistency.
AI generates answers.
But they rarely work together at the moment a design decision is being made.
Store information across separate places and workflows.
Provide consistency, but mostly wait for designers to refer to them.
Can generate answers, but needs product context to make them useful.
DesignOS connects:
Components, tokens, patterns, and guidelines become contextual knowledge.
Evidence and user insights become part of the decision context.
Past decisions and rationale become discoverable instead of forgotten.
AI connects the information and helps surface what matters.
Traditional design systems document components → tokens → guidelines.
DesignOS explores context → AI → decisions → learning.
It can identify repeated patterns, connect decisions to research, and surface opportunities to improve the system itself.
Rather than presenting DesignOS as a collection of static screens, I created a fully interactive SaaS product experience to explore how the idea could work as a real product.
The concept explores AI contextual assistance, design system intelligence, AI Skills, research context, evidence-backed recommendations, design decision workflows, human-in-the-loop AI, and interactive product dashboards.
Step inside the concept and experience how an AI-native design system could support real product decisions.
↗Design systems have traditionally been something designers refer to.
DesignOS explores what happens when they become something designers can work with.
The goal is not to automate design judgement. It is to make the team's existing knowledge more accessible, contextual, and useful when decisions are being made.
DesignOS is an independent product concept by Naveen Kumar.
